Charles Bentley Enhances Its Delivery Experience with Whistl Parcels

Charles Bentley is a global supplier of stylish, high-quality home, garden and leisure products, thoughtfully designed for beautiful homes.

A long‑standing manufacturer, Charles Bentley has enjoyed continued success since moving online in 2005. As the business grew and operational requirements became more complex, the team recognised the need for a reliable logistics partner that could scale alongside them and deliver a consistently excellent customer experience.

A Tailor-Made Delivery Solution Built for Growth

Before partnering with Whistl Parcels, Charles Bentley worked with an alternative supplier that was unable to offer a carrier management solution to match the innovative, fully integrated platform Whistl Parcels provides.

Following several months of in‑depth consultation and a detailed review of Charles Bentley’s internal systems, Whistl Parcels designed a bespoke delivery management solution tailored to the retailer’s specific requirements. This marked the beginning of a successful partnership in 2012.

Flexible, Multi-Carrier Delivery at Scale

Seven years on, Whistl Parcels now processes and ships more than 21,000 items every month for Charles Bentley through its multi‑carrier delivery management platform.

Andrew Steel, eCommerce Director at Charles Bentley, explains:

“Items shipped range in size from 100 grams to 1,000kg and can be anything from an envelope to pallets, ‘leave safe’ and delivered with a signature. Most items are despatched on one of Whistl Parcels’ direct carrier contracts, but the flexibility of the software also allows us to utilise a number of our own carrier agreements.”

This flexibility ensures Charles Bentley can always select the most appropriate carrier and service level for each order, without compromising on efficiency or customer satisfaction.

Reducing Costs with Integrated Delivery Management

Cost savings and dedicated technical support are just two of the key benefits Charles Bentley has experienced.

By integrating Whistl Parcels’ Enhanced Delivery Management solution directly into its existing systems and processes, Charles Bentley has significantly reduced operational complexity and avoided the need to employ additional staff. The result is a streamlined dispatch operation that supports ongoing growth while keeping costs firmly under control.

“We would have to employ at least three additional customer service advisers of our own to manage the carriers. That’s a big saving for a business like ours. We really do see Whistl Parcels as an extension of our own business, and we have spent the last three years further integrating and refining the Whisrl Parcels customer service team to create more efficiencies and strengthen our proposition.”
